Democrats in Congress have now released a dramatic video urging members of the U.S. military and intelligence community to “refuse illegal orders” from President Trump. Not actual illegal orders — none were named, none were cited, none were even described. Just vague warnings, emotional music, and the same tired narrative that Trump is one moment away from becoming a dictator.
As I walked through on today’s show, Rep. Jason Crow had multiple opportunities to explain what illegal orders he believes Trump has issued. Martha MacCallum pressed him four times. Each time, he danced, dodged, and fell back on “allusions” or comments or questions he claimed Trump once made or asked. Not a single unlawful order. Not even a hypothetical scenario grounded in the law.
This is the game. The left wants Americans to fear Trump so much that they’ll vote for anyone on the other side of the aisle. They want service members to distrust the commander in chief. They want voters to believe that protecting democracy means whatever they tell them it means at the moment. It’s stupid — but it’s dangerous. And it’s only going to intensify as we move toward the midterms.
You can’t tell the military to defy a commander in chief unless you can name a single unlawful order. And they can’t.
The good news? We have the truth. We have momentum. And we have the responsibility — and the ability — to win. As I’ve said repeatedly, the only way to stop this chaos is to defeat these ideas at the ballot box and in the marketplace of ideas. That’s our job, and we are more than capable of doing it.
