My friends,

Today’s episode is a little different — and that’s exactly why it matters. I sat down with Beau Bayh, a Democrat running for Indiana Secretary of State, to talk about something that’s heating up across America: redistricting.

You might recognize Beau’s family name — his father Evan Bayh and grandfather Birch Bayh both served Indiana in high office. But this conversation wasn’t about party labels. It was about trust, accountability, and justice — issues that should matter to every Hoosier and every American, no matter how we vote.

We discussed how district lines get drawn, what “mid-cycle redistricting” really means, and some of the underlying causes — and consequences — of the political volatility we are enduring.

Beau believes we’re losing trust in our elections because too many politicians pick their voters instead of the other way around. I challenged him on whether the intense partisanship we see today has fueled the very thing he’s criticizing.

I don’t want an echo chamber. I want honest conversations that help people find truth — even when we disagree.

This is the kind of civil, good-faith dialogue we need more of in America — honest, respectful, and unafraid of disagreement. You’ll hear me press hard but fair, and you’ll hear Beau answer candidly about what he believes and why.

At the end of the day, we might not vote the same way, but we can still talk, listen, and learn from one another. That’s what conservative, not bitter means.

Todd Talk: The Mamdani Effect and the Future of the Democrat Party

My friends, on today’s Toddcast I spoke with Beau Bayh, son and grandson of well-known Indiana Democrats. Beau’s running for Secretary of State, and to be fair, I don’t believe he’s a radical leftist. But the Democrat Party he’s part of isn’t the same one his father and grandfather knew. It’s becoming more extreme — as detailed in a new Townhall piece about what they call “The Mamdani Effect.”

Across America, Democrats are taking cues from Zohran Mamdani, a socialist likely to be elected mayor of New York City today. This is why redistricting matters — because we’re in a cold civil war, and the survival of our republic is at stake.

The Blue Dog Democrat has more in common with me than with their own Party today. I hope these Democrats join folks like me in fighting for our republic before it’s too late.
