My friends,

The government is open again—but don’t be fooled into thinking the fight is over.

What just happened wasn’t a solution; it was a timeout. The so-called “continuing resolution” signed by President Trump only funds part of the government through next September. The rest? It expires in late January, which means we’re staring down another shutdown in the next few months.

What fascinates me most isn’t the procedural stuff—it’s the political fallout.

You can feel the cracks widening inside both parties.

On the left, the divide between the radical socialist wing and the old-school liberal Democrats has turned into open war. Senator John Fetterman—hardly a conservative hero—walked straight into that crossfire this week.

When he appeared on The View, Sunny Hostin lit into him for “caving” to Republicans. Then, in an interview with CNN’s Dana Bash, Fetterman revealed something I’ve been saying for years: the nastiest, most hateful rhetoric isn’t coming from MAGA conservatives—it’s coming from the far left.

He said some of his harshest critics actually cheered for his stroke, mocked his depression, and wished him dead.

Let that sink in.

That’s what happens when people put government in place of God—or at least try to. When politics becomes religion, disagreement becomes heresy—and opponents must be destroyed.

Fetterman got a front-row seat to the hatred his own party breeds. And for the first time in a long while, a Democrat said it out loud.

Meanwhile, the same folks wishing death on Fetterman are demanding that taxpayers permanently fund expanded Obamacare subsidies created during COVID. Those were supposed to be temporary—an emergency measure. Now the left calls them “rights.”

You can’t build freedom on dependency. You build it on responsibility and truth.

Todd Huff

That’s how socialism always grows: one “temporary” promise at a time until the government owns every solution and the people own nothing but dependence.

Here’s the truth the media won’t say: nobody really “won” this shutdown fight. Democrats caused it. Eight of them eventually crossed the aisle to reopen the government, proving who was holding the American people hostage.

Republicans need to stop accepting blame every time the left throws a tantrum.

But let’s not pretend Republicans are perfect either. Too many in our own party are afraid to stand firm.

Too many worry about headlines instead of principles.

If we don’t find the courage to hold the line in January, we’ll get another short-term deal that does nothing to fix spending or secure our future.

Still, there are glimmers of hope the press ignores.

After ICE launched Operation Midway Blitz in Chicago, violent crime dropped sharply—homicides down 16%, shootings down 35%, robberies down 41%. And just last week, U.S. Marshals rescued 101 missing children in Memphis.

That’s real progress, real compassion, and it’s the result of simply enforcing laws on the books in good faith.

Returning to law and order is a victory for the American people.

The truth is, all might be free if they valued freedom, and defended it as they ought.”

Todd Talk: Failing Math, Failing Schools — and Big Government’s Blind Spot

My friends, if you don’t think our public education system is failing, buckle up. UC San Diego reports that nearly half of incoming students can’t do basic addition or subtraction — meaning only 54% can truly say they’re smarter than a fifth grader. And yet the same big-government crowd that fights school choice and mocks homeschooling demands more and more from the taxpayer for these absolutely abysmal results.

Look, measuring intelligence is complex, but knowing basic math is, well, basic. Even with calculators in every pocket, not grasping simple numbers shows a massive hole in how we’re teaching our kids to think.

So the next time politicians promise they can control the sea levels in 50 years or regulate every business transaction into perfect equality, just remember this: they can’t even produce graduates who can add.
