My friends, today’s Toddcast was not easy to do—but it was necessary in my estimation.

When tragedy strikes, it has a way of revealing who we really are. Not just as individuals, but as a culture. And what we’ve seen over the past few years should concern every American, regardless of party or ideology.

We are living in a moment where cruelty is often celebrated, mockery is frequently rewarded, and outrage has become the default currency.

When political enemies suffer, too many people rush to dehumanize instead of grieve. Too many voices rush to score points instead of showing restraint. That instinct is not strength—it’s moral decay.

Let me be very clear: condemning violence is not weakness. Valuing human life is not compromise. And refusing to mock tragedy is not surrendering ground in the culture war. It’s drawing a moral line.

On the show today, I addressed the reaction to a horrific act of violence and the fallout that followed.

I criticized comments that should never have been made.

If we claim to stand for truth, justice, and moral order, then we don’t get to borrow the tactics of the very people we condemn.

If we become the same kind of people we claim to oppose, then winning politically won’t matter—we’ll have already lost.

There is a difference between justice and vengeance. There is a difference between exercising free speech for good and using it to promote moral depravity. And there is a difference between political opposition and celebrating suffering. If we lose those distinctions, we lose far more than elections—we lose our soul.

This is not about protecting politicians. This is not about defending bad statements. This is about remembering that no political victory is worth the cost of our humanity.

When life is reduced to a punchline, something is deeply wrong in our culture.

I believe America’s real crisis isn’t political—it’s spiritual. We have forgotten first principles. We’ve replaced virtue with tribalism, truth with slogans, and wisdom with likes and shares. No policy can solve that. Only moral clarity and character can.

And that starts with us. It starts with what we tolerate, what we laugh at, and what we’re willing to excuse “because our side did it.” If we want a better country, we have to be better people.

I’m far from perfect, my friends. And I write these words with a little hesitation and a lot of humility. God knows how much I need His grace.

I’m just trying to speak the truth.

But none of this means we should retreat. In fact, we must stand firmly. But rightly. We must speak truth without cruelty and conviction without contempt. We must remember that the goal is not to destroy our enemies, but to preserve a civilization worth saving.

If you haven’t listened to today’s Toddcast yet, I encourage you to do so. Not because it’s comfortable—but because it’s honest.

And I’d love to hear what you think about it.

Conservative, not bitter.

Todd Talk: Why Christmas Matters More Than Politics or Policy

My friends, we find ourselves in the middle of the Christmas season, and next week we celebrate the birth of Jesus. This is almost certainly not the exact time He was born, but it is when we remember why He came — to save us from our sins.

On the Toddcast, we talk every day about important matters: personal liberty, free speech, freedom of religion, taxes, redistricting. These ideas truly shape how we live this side of heaven.

But regardless of whether you agree with me one hundred percent or zero percent, the most important truth I can share is this: Jesus came to this planet for you. We’ve all rebelled. We’ve all sinned. And there is no way back to God except through His Son Jesus Christ.

Merry Christmas, my friends. I hope you choose Jesus.
