My friends, the headlines are loud again: government shutdown. But let’s separate the fear from the facts and get clear on what this really means for you. At the center of this round was a clean continuing resolution—an offer to extend current funding levels through November 21 while the bigger fight continues. The House passed it; the Senate blocked it; the shutdown began. That’s the politics. Here’s the reality.

Essential services continue. Social Security checks go out. Medicare remains. Military operations continue. The media loves a countdown clock, but your daily life is not supposed to grind to a halt because Congress can’t agree on longer-term spending. That doesn’t mean it’s painless—many federal employees are furloughed, and agencies slow down—but the word “shutdown” is louder than the actual scope of impact for most Americans.

Why does this keep happening? Because the real battle isn’t about the calendar—it’s about spending, debt, and the border. One side wants to ratify the size and speed of government growth; the other wants to rein it in and return to constitutional limits. A clean CR is basically a timeout so the teams can keep negotiating—no policy riders, no cuts, no new programs. It’s not a win for anyone; it’s a pause that avoids high-drama brinkmanship while the larger debate continues.

“Shutdowns are part of today’s political battlefield—panic is optional, clarity is not.”

Todd Huff

If you believe government should be smaller, more accountable, and focused on its core duties, this messy process is what a course correction looks like. It’s frustrating, yes—but it’s also where leverage lives. The answer isn’t panic; it’s persistence, clarity, and courage. We’ll keep telling the truth and cutting through the spin so you can make sense of the noise.

Gallup: Church Attendance Hits Record Low

My friends, Washington may be shut down again, but Gallup tells us something even more troubling: church attendance in America is now at the lowest level ever recorded.

Only three in ten adults say they go regularly.

The truth is, a nation can survive budget fights and shutdowns. What it can’t survive is losing sight of Truth: and the One who defines it.

Now, I know there are churches that get it wrong, that water down the gospel, or avoid preaching truth altogether.

But that doesn’t erase the importance of gathering together as believers. Scripture reminds us not to forsake it.

But the silver lining is that the next generation is showing signs of hunger for truth. And that should remind us that God isn’t done with America yet.

Quote of the Day

“Government’s first duty is to protect the people, not run their lives.”

Ronald Reagan
