My friends,
I’ve got to be candid with you — this government shutdown has reached absurd levels. We’re now on day 38, which makes it the longest in American history.
And as I said on today’s show, it didn’t have to be this way. The solution is right in front of us, but too many in Washington would rather score political points than fix the problem. And that should speak volumes to the American people.
Here’s the truth: Democrats think they’ve found a political winner.
They believe the shutdown hurts Republicans and helps them win elections. They do not care that it hurts many average, everyday Americans. The Radical Lefts worships government — and nothing is more important to them than their political success. It’s nauseating.
That’s why they’re perfectly content to keep it going — even when it means that real Americans are hurting.
Meanwhile, the majority of average people out there haven’t even noticed the government is “shut down” unless they work for the government, receive government benefits, or happen to be stuck in an extra-long TSA line.
That should tell us something.
We don’t need Washington doing ninety percent of what it does. The shutdown proves it — most Americans haven’t even noticed it’s closed.
We don’t need Washington doing 90 percent of what it does. It wastes money and causes an unnecessary burden on taxpayers in far too many situations.
I also talked about a key misunderstanding most people have about this shutdown.
The Left keeps blaming Republicans, claiming it’s all because we “control everything” — the House, the Senate, and the White House.
But that’s not how it works.
The Senate still requires 60 votes to move forward on a bill, and that means Democrats can — and are — blocking every effort to reopen the government.
That’s why I played a clip on today’s program from CNN’s election night coverage with Rep. Hakeem Jeffries, Jake Tapper, and Dana Bash.
Even the folks at CNN were pushing back a little on the Democrat talking points, which is saying something.
Jeffries tried to make it sound like Republicans were the ones voting against opening the government, but Jake Tapper and Dana Bash actually corrected him — shockingly!
It was one of those rare moments where the media didn’t let the narrative slide by unchallenged. (But don’t expect much more of that, my friends!)
Here’s what needs to happen: Republicans need to change the filibuster rules — but just narrowly.
I’m not saying abolish the filibuster altogether. I’m saying it should not be used to block a clean continuing resolution.
That means no new spending, no new cuts, no political riders — just a vote to keep things running while we work out the bigger issues.
That’s common sense.
And it’s exactly what Democrats would be doing if they were serious about being adults instead of gaming the system.
But this shutdown also exposes something deeper.
Too many Americans have become dependent on the government.
Reagan said we should measure welfare’s success by how many people leave it — not by how many join. He was right.
We’ve built a culture where 42 million people depend on SNAP benefits every month. That’s not a good thing.
Finally, I closed today’s show with James Carville’s bold prediction: that Democrats will win in 2028 and pack the Supreme Court.
He even predicted they’ll expand it to 13 justices. That’s not “saving our democracy” — it’s manipulating it.
We can’t afford to sit back and watch.
The only way to stop this madness is to stay informed, stay engaged, and win elections.

Todd Talk: The Climate Crusade Against Your Dog’s Dinner
My friends, the AP wants you to worry about your pet’s carbon paw print. Isn’t that cute? They say if you feed Fido real meat, you’re destroying the planet — and by doing that, you’re the scourge of humanity.
Apparently, the new moral high ground is a plant-based diet for your golden retriever. I can already hear the lectures in the pet food aisle: “Oh, you still buy beef flavor?”
Look, this is what happens when climate hysteria eats common sense. I can guarantee you Echo, Tango, and Kilo will not be turning vegan anytime soon. And if they were, I wouldn’t lecture you for feeding your dog food they actually want to eat.
The amount of concern I have about all of this, my friends, is zero. And those who live in Realville will draw the same conclusion.
