My friends,

Today’s show takes us deep into one of the most complex and consequential debates facing our country: President Trump’s decision to authorize strikes against cartel operations tied to the deadly fentanyl trade.

I walk through the context, the constitutional questions, and why even conservatives may not fully agree on the right course of action.

To understand where we are, I revisit how overdose deaths have soared—more than 111,000 Americans lost in 2022 alone, largely due to synthetic opioids.

The death rate has jumped roughly fifty-six-fold in just two decades.

Cartels in Mexico, Venezuela, and beyond have exploited America’s open-border years, flooding communities with fentanyl and other poisons.

Fentanyl isn’t just a policy issue—it’s a reflection of a deeper cultural and spiritual crisis that’s tearing at America’s soul.

Now, Trump says enough is enough—shifting from border defense to an offensive strategy that targets these smuggling networks directly.

But this isn’t just about drugs—it’s about authority.

When the administration declared a non-international armed conflict (NIAC) with narco-terrorist groups like Tren de Aragua, critics in Congress raised alarms.

Senators from both parties—including Rand Paul and Tim Kaine—are asking whether the president can act militarily without explicit authorization.

Supporters say Trump is doing what’s necessary to protect Americans; detractors worry about executive overreach and international law.

I urge listeners to consider both sides honestly and thoughtfully: it’s okay to say “I’m not sure” when the issues are this complex. But we shouldn’t stay there.

Alongside the heavy topics, I share a personal note—attending a thrilling Pacers game that stretched into double overtime (though the outcome wasn’t ideal).

It’s a reminder that life, even amid national turmoil, still gives us moments of joy and community.

Conservative, not bitter.

Todd Talk: Honoring Charlie Kirk: Truth, Courage & Conversation

My friends, it’s been six weeks since Charlie Kirk’s assassination.

His death revealed two sides of our culture — those who responded with cruelty and evil, and those who were inspired to live with conviction and courage.

Like many, Charlie’s assassination caused me to step back and re-evaluate things.

While we’ll keep producing the same conservative, not bitter content you’ve come to expect — his example has challenged me to find new ways to get the truth in front of the people who need it most.

One way we’ll do that is by bringing more voices onto the program — voices you’ll find interesting and thought-provoking. Some we’ll agree with, some we won’t. That’s how we sharpen our thinking and pursue truth.
